Independent Custom PC Builder Price & Availability Report

A planned annual report on what independent custom PC builders advertise — designed, from the start, to never present advertised prices as what customers actually paid.

What the report will measure

Methodology rules

  1. Only prices a builder advertises publicly are recorded. Nothing is inferred from a configurator's maximum or from a review site.
  2. Advertised prices are never presented as transaction averages, typical prices paid, or market prices. They are labelled “advertised” in every table and chart.
  3. Every data point carries a source (the builder's own site) and a recording date. Stale points are aged out, not silently carried forward.
  4. Builders are included by the same inclusion standard as the directory. National configurator brands are reported separately from independents, if at all.
  5. Where a builder publishes no price, the report records “not published” — it does not estimate one.

The data that exists today

The verified market context available at launch is limited, and the report will not pretend otherwise:

Why an annual report, and why this caution

Buyers currently have few honest sources for what independent builders charge, because independent pricing is quoted per job and rarely published. An annual, method-published snapshot of advertised prices would help buyers read quotes — but only if it refuses the usual shortcuts: scraping configurator totals, averaging unlike tiers, or presenting advertised figures as prices paid. This page is the methodology commitment that the first edition will be judged against. When the first edition is published, it will be linked from here with its recording dates and source list.
