Custom gaming PC builders in Los Angeles

Buying a custom gaming PC locally in the Los Angeles area

Los Angeles is large enough that “local” can still mean a long drive, so the first question to settle is what you actually want from a local builder. For most buyers it comes down to three things: a conversation about the games and resolution you play at before parts are chosen, a machine you can hand to a person if something goes wrong, and a clear answer on who handles warranty work — the builder, the component manufacturer, or you. A good local builder will talk through your monitor, your target frame rate and the titles you play before recommending a graphics card tier, because overbuying the GPU while underbuying cooling, storage or the power supply is a common way a custom build disappoints.

Ask how the build is tested before handover. A serious shop stress-tests the finished machine, checks temperatures under load, updates firmware and drivers, and hands over a PC that is ready to sign in to — not a box of assembled parts that still needs an evening of setup. Ask what happens in the first month if a component fails: does the shop diagnose it in-house, swap from stock, or start a manufacturer return while your PC sits idle? Ask whether the quote separates parts from the build fee, or bundles everything into one number. Neither model is automatically fairer, but you cannot compare two quotes until you know which model each one uses — our guide to build fee vs. parts markup explains how to read both.

Local versus mail-order is a genuine trade-off, not a contest. Mail-order configurator brands offer slick configuration pages and ship nationally; a local independent offers a face, a bench and a shorter loop when you need help. Shipping a large glass-sided tower also carries real risk and real cost in both directions if it ever needs service. Neither route is right for everyone, and this directory keeps the two separate: the brands on the national brands page are labelled as configurator brands, while this page lists only independent builders verified against the inclusion standard.

Finally, bring specifics. Tell the builder the games you play, the resolution and refresh rate of your monitor, whether you stream or edit video, how much storage you realistically need, and whether size, noise or appearance matter to you. A builder who asks those questions back — and pushes back where your parts list is unbalanced — is giving you the main thing an independent shop offers over a configurator: judgement. The listings below are the verified LA-area listings for this directory, in alphabetical order, with identical fields for each builder. The full California list is on the California state page. Where a field has not been verified, it says so instead of guessing.

Specialty tags are only shown where a builder's own site verifies them. If a filter returns no builders, that means no verified builder in this set carries that tag yet — it does not mean the builder cannot do the work. Ask them directly, and submit a correction if you can verify a specialty.

This directory is maintained by the team behind Starbase Computer, a computer shop in South Pasadena, CA — which is itself listed here under the same criteria as every other builder. Its listing above uses the same fields, the same order and the same criteria as every other builder.
